I'm using vista, it's totally different. Mine looks like yours, but I don't have anything plugged in. A few weeks ago, the ability to control playback and recording volume has stopped working. I can still hear my bass through my computer speakers, but I cannot adjust the playback or recording volumes.
The sliders still move, but they have no effect at all. The volume of my bass through my computer speakers remains constant. What's worse is that my audio recording programs do not detect the line in signal anymore, no matter if I have the recording volume of my line-in all the way up.
I have checked all the obvious like updating drivers, checking cords, making sure correct devices are selected in Cool Edit Pro and Audacity.
I can even mute the speakers from the volume icon in the tray, and still hear my bass. Just for the heck of it I plugged the cable into the mic jack and everything worked as before.
