Other than cultural issues, the ethical issue also affects the organization during its operations outside the United States. More often, the organization has been accused of misappropriating the funds meant for disaster victims. For instance, in the year the organization was accused of misappropriating millions of dollars of donated funds meant for the Haiti earthquake victims Jones, Owing to the above allegations, protests were held in more than ten cities in the US.
During the demonstrations, the protesters accused Red Cross as a profit oriented organization. At the time of the demonstrations, a number of media houses accused the organization for being hypocrite and dishonest. Based on these allegations, it can be argued that the biggest ethical issue facing the global organization is the misuse of funds intended for disaster victims. To end the above ethical issues, Red Cross should use their code of ethics to institutionalize ethics within their organization.
Equally, all Red Cross managers outside the United States should ensure that the code of ethics is implemented and adhered to at all time. The above ethical perspectives can be compared across different cultures the organization operates. As such, some cultures dictate that money be used in mitigating the effects of disasters. Other cultures dictate that money be used in ending the miseries of the disaster victims.
Similarly, different cultures determine the amount of money to be spent on aid. In developed countries, a large percentage of aid is usually spent on mitigating future related catastrophes. On the other hand, a larger percentage in of aid in developing countries is usually spent on tackling the immediate challenges facing the victims such as providing shelter, medication, clothing, and food.
Through this, a little percentage of the aid is left back to address the core causes of the disaster. With regard to the above illustrations, it is very essential for Red Cross to tackle the issues based on cultural context of the host country. Management think they have all the answers. They sit home due to Covid while we out out in the field l. Pros Overtime until they get fully staffed. This company does not offer Guaranteed hours.
Yes There are 1 helpful reviews 1 No There are 1 unhelpful reviews 1. This job is what you make it. If you just go to work and come home you'll be fine. Sometimes there are petty work place problems between co-workers. Overall, it's a decent company. Scheduling can be a bit inconvenient, but if usually drives are not an all day affair so you should be fine to do errands during the day.
Co-workers are for the most part are nice and helpful. Pros Nice co-workers who are supportive. Cons Inconvenient scheduling. Too many hands in the pot. I loved the job but, there are way too many people involved in running the team. The lack of communication between departments causes unnecessary stress to the staff. Management never listens to any input anyone has and only believes their way is the right way.
If you give any push back then you have a target on your back and they will look for a way to write you up or fire you. Managers that are not over your department feel the need to try to tell you how to run your team when they can't even run their own.
Stay far away from this job if you value your time. It's not worth it. They will run you into the ground without a care in the world. Pros Higher pay for entry level Phlebotomist with no experience. Cons Very unorganized. Management doesn't listen to staff. No work life balance. Rate your recent company Share your experience to help others. The company as a whole is not bad.
The position, needs better pay for one. In reality, with what they offer, not having to pay for medical and dental, etc. Especially if you only do hours a week. Plus, the schedule, needs major improvement. No consistency. I would have to look up everyday just to see what I will be working the next day because it was hard to remember what was going on.
With only a handful employees that were super awesome, most were good and nice. Unfortunately, there were a few, that get that power trip and become unbearable to work with. They make it where you just want to quit on the spot because in reality, it is not worth putting up with. I could work at McDonald's, make a out the same, with probably better working conditions, less stress. Pros They train. Cons Inconsistent schedule, non-competitive pay, horrible employees in positions of power. Yes There are 2 helpful reviews 2 No There are 1 unhelpful reviews 1.
This was one of the most horrible experiences I had working for a company. Managers are horrible, trainers don't know how to train the correct way. This was a horrible and traumatizing experience, I do not recommend this job to no one, the managers don't know what they are doing, bad communication. Pros N, A. Cons Managers do not know what they are doing, trainers do not train you the correct way. No one in this company care. Yes There are 2 helpful reviews 2 No There are 2 unhelpful reviews 2.
Pros k plan is excellent. Cons On calls 24 hours. Been with the Red Cross for 5 years and although there are many internal postings daily you will be overlooked for all of them. Pros Flexible hours. Cons Low pay, high cost benefits , no room for advancement. The job is equal parts frustrating and hilarious. Watching the incompetence of some colleagues and upper management simultaneously is a case study in human behavior. A strange brew of laziness and frustration from management sees them spend all their time covering their backsides at the expense of profit and productivity.
They have well paid middle management positions and don't want to do anything to change the company for even if it is for the better. Raises are meagre and bonuses in the lab don't exist. We worked all the way through Covid without a decent raise or bonus. Promotions are not based on how qualified you are for the job but more about seniority and politics. The Henrietta location is very gossipy and management prefer to promote people of a certain gender.
Pros Excellent paid time off if you stick around. Cons Pay , Health plans, Promotion prospects, expect to work most weekends and some holidays. Great work culture and good people. The only drawback is they don't mostly hire volunteers so no pay. But you can find the job that suits you and do projects in your own time.
Pros Great Coworkers. Cons No pay. Good environment. Although the salary is low, it is a great place to work. Coworkers are committed to the job.
Everyone is willing to help each other. Flexibility to work from home. Pros Great environment. Cons Low salary. Pros Overtime, able to get extra hours. Cons Long hours. Claimed Profile.
